Steven Turner

Steven Turner was named to his current position in March of 2024. He has more than 38 years of experience in the energy industry.

Turner began his career with LG&E and KU in 1991 as a power plant mechanical supervisor at Kentucky Utilities’ E.W. Brown Generating Station. He has held a variety of leadership roles in power generation in his 33 years with the company. They include manager of Maintenance at Green River Station, manager of Production and general manager at Cane Run Station. In this role, he also provided oversight of operations at LG&E’s Ohio Falls hydroelectric plant and the Jefferson County combustion turbines. In 2013, Turner was named general manager of LG&E and KU’s largest power plant - Ghent Generating Station.

He then assumed the role of vice president, Power Production in 2020.

In his current position, Turner is responsible for the safe, reliable and strategic operation of LG&E and KU’s generation fleet, which includes coal-fired, natural gas, hydro and solar resources, capable of producing more than 8,000 megawatts of electricity. Turner also ensures the fleet complies with all regulatory requirements related to the safe and environmentally sound operation of the generation facilities.

Prior to coming to LG&E and KU, Turner worked at the Tennessee Valley Authority as an engineering technical supervisor at the Watts Bar and Sequoyah Nuclear Plants and as a production supervisor for Corning Inc. He has a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and an MBA from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. Turner is a registered Professional Engineer in Tennessee and completed the E.ON International Management Program at the International Institute for Management Development in Lausanne, Switzerland.
