National Men's Health Week

National Men's Health Week — celebrated each year as the week leading up to and including Father's Day — brings together corporations, government agencies, religious and fraternal organizations and others committed to the prevention and treatment of men's health issues. National Men's Health Week organizers plan a variety of activities in communities across the country.

The greatest risk to men's health comes from heart disease, prostate cancer, testicular cancer and colon cancer. All of these health conditions are highly treatable with early detection and may be preventable with proper diet and exercise, and by quitting smoking. The company's WellFairs offer testing for prostate and colon cancers, as well as risk factors for heart disease.

During National Men's Health Week, consider the following steps to make a difference in your life:

  • schedule an annual physical with your doctor;
  • discuss appropriate screening tests with your health care provider so that you make informed decisions about your health;
  • eat balanced, nutritious meals and get plenty of physical activity; and
  • manage your stress — don't let it manage you.
