Before You Dig

Call Kentucky 811 before beginning any excavation or digging work in your yard. Kentucky 811 will notify the appropriate utilities to come out and locate the lines to help prevent accidental line cuts and dig-ins leading to interruptions of your service.

The service is provided free of charge to you. The utility companies will mark your yard using the American Public Works Association's standard utility color code — to ensure you know where their service lines are buried.

When you are prepared to dig, you should:

1. Call 811 two business days prior to excavation.
2. Wait the required amount of time.
3. Respect the marks.
4. Dig with care.
