Vice President and Deputy General Counsel-Regulatory, PPL Services

Allyson Sturgeon was named vice president and deputy general counsel-Regulatory for PPL Services Corporation in December of 2021. In that role, Sturgeon and her team are responsible for federal and state regulatory matters across the PPL enterprise in Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Virginia.

Prior to that, Sturgeon was managing senior counsel-Regulatory and Transactions for LG&E and KU, where she worked as a collaborative business partner and advocate on all state regulatory matters in Kentucky, Virginia and Tennessee. Prior to coming to the company in 2005, Sturgeon was a member of Ogden Newell and Welch (now Stoll Keenon Ogden) in the firm's utility and energy practice. For more than 25 years, Sturgeon has routinely appeared before state commissions and courts representing energy and telecommunications clients in adversary proceedings involving complex energy issues, rate cases, surcharge mechanisms, mergers and acquisitions, renewable energy, financing, and territorial and customer disputes. She routinely advises in-house clients on policy and compliance issues, legislative initiatives, and interpretation of tariff provisions, statutes, regulations and commission orders.

Sturgeon earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English/mass communication from Bellarmine College (now Bellarmine University) and graduated cum laude from the University of Louisville, Brandeis School of Law.

Sturgeon is a Louisville native and remains active in the community, both professionally and personally.  In 2004, she was certified in general mediation by the International Center for Dispute Resolution and received an AV Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Rating. She participated in FOCUS Louisville, was a participant in LG&E and KU's Strategic Business Integration program and was certified as a WABC Business Coach in 2020. Sturgeon volunteered as a Girl Scout leader and for Big Brothers/Big Sisters for many years and served on the St. Margaret Mary School Board. Since 2015, Sturgeon has served on the Healing Place board and chair of its board of directors and Business Prospects Committee. Sturgeon has been married for 35 years to Tim Sturgeon and they have three daughters (Emily, Madeline and Megan) and two grandsons, Palmer and Rory.
