LG&E and KU have received the nationally recognized ENERGY STAR^® Partner of the Year Award for the third consecutive year for the successes of the Energy-Saving New Homes Program.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has recognized Louisville Gas and Electric Company and Kentucky Utilities Company with a 2013 ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year — Sustained Excellence Award for their continued leadership in protecting our environment through superior energy efficiency.

LG&E and KU, an ENERGY STAR partner since 2009, will be honored for its long-term commitment to energy efficiency. Since February 2009, LG&E and KU have helped spur the construction of more than 2,800 ENERGY STAR certified homes within the service territories.

The LG&E and KU Energy-Saving New Homes Program was created in 2008 as part of the Energy Efficiency programs portfolio to help educate builders, customers and industry leaders about how to build more energy-efficient homes and to propel more energy-efficient home construction within the utilities' service territories.
